The Daily Swagger

British photographer Ian Norman Trepid comes face to face with red fanged wild dangerous and sometimes even deadly beasts risking his life to get up close to nature's rarest and most ultimate predators in the wilds of Montana.

A special report by our environment correspondent R. U. Wise.

For one British photographer the risks posed by the savage beasts of Montana (a country somewhere:Ed.) come second only to the savagery of the climate. Enduring 50 degree indoor temperatures with only a thin duvet for warmth this intrepid nature lover, armed only with a camera and a bucket of Chicken Nuggets, enticed some of the planets most savage killers to within inches of his lens. "When the chips are down, only chicken nuggets will cut the mustard." he informed me.

Ian staked out this beehive thingy for several weeks enduring frostbite on all 11 of his toes, but it was worth it to capture this wonderful family scene with two juveniles and one adult bear eventually coming to feed. "The risks posed by mothers with young is immense so I had to remain very quiet, and switch off the fan heater in the hide. The melanistic plumage of the larger youngster is quite rare."
